Location: Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy

Reports To: Principal/Vice-Principal

Supervises: Head coaches, athletic trainer, athletic programs, athletic clubs, and game managers

 

Overview

Under the direction of the Principal/Vice-Principal, The Athletic Director provides leadership to, and encourages collaboration and coordination in all areas relevant to Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy athletics. Saint Joseph’s typically fields nine to twelve teams. While focusing on job responsibilities, staff members of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy are expected to model behavior supporting and encouraging our four pillars of Faith, Scholarship, Leadership, and Service.

 

Key Responsibilities

· Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school

· Interacts with the public and employees with tact, discretion and courtesy via the telephone; face to face communication and electronic means

· Develops, in cooperation with the athletic committee, a detailed budget which assures equity across all sports

· Submits budget for approval to the principal and Board of Trustees

· Collaborates with head coaches, schedule athletic contests and maintain records

· Ensures all athletes have completed all medical certifications before participating

· Ensures all coaches and staff meet the employment requirements of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy, PIAA, and Pennsylvania in cooperation with the school administration.

· Maintains, in coordination with administration, the athletic and co-curricular athletic events calendar

· Initiates and coordinates searches for head coaching positions in coordination with administration

· Ensures home contests are properly staffed (officials and other appropriate staff)

· Provides leadership for the Back the Pack and other parent/guardian administered athletic programs

· Arranges transportation to all away events

· Orders all athletic apparel, uniforms, equipment, and field supplies

· Maintains an accurate inventory of all athletic equipment

· Coordinates public relations in cooperation with school leadership including, but not limited to: signing day, sports awards, sports achievements

· Attends PIAA and other athletic related committee meetings

· Supervises the preparation, execution, and clean up of home contest venues

· Promotes a positive team culture throughout all aspects of athletic programs

· Supervises and coordinate all athletic camps

· Conducts formal evaluations of all head coaches

· Provides recommendation on coach retention

· All other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications Required

· Supportive of the mission of the Catholic Church

· Able to satisfactorily complete background checks and training applicable to diocesan and state requirements

· Bachelor’s degree or higher or four or more years of experience in athletics or sports management

· Minimum of one year teaching experience or coaching experience; three years preferred

· Administrative experience preferred

· Excellent communication skills

· Able to multitask and prioritize work for accomplishment in a timely manner

· Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality, professionalism and integrity

 

Qualifications Preferred

· Familiarity with school lunch programs

· Working knowledge of Power School

· Familiarity with Schoology Learning Management Systems

 

Working Conditions

FLSA Status: Hourly Nonexempt

Work Status: Part Time

Travel Requirements: As is necessary for away games and conferences.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Sitting and standing for long periods of time. Walking short and long distances. Climbing steps.

OVERVIEW
The Maintenance General Laborer is responsible for performing an extensive range of work in the repair and general maintenance of the school sites to include the following duties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Cleaning of classrooms.
-Vacuuming all carpeted areas.
-Mopping, stripping, and waxing applicable floors.
-Dusting of all rooms and offices.
-Ensuring that hallways, steps, foyers, etc. are free of debris.
-Daily removal of garbage.
-Cleaning bathrooms and replenishing supplies.
-Disinfecting all areas of the schools to include railings and door knobs.
-Maintaining the cafeteria and kitchen areas to include wiping tables and arranging chairs.
-Cleaning and sanitizing after health-related accidents.
-Cleaning inside and outside of windows, when needed.
-Caring for landscape and parking lots to include litter removal.
-Snow removal and ice melt application of all necessary areas.
-Minor repairs such as changing light bulbs, tile replacement, etc.
-Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
-Supportive of the mission of the Catholic Church.
-Able to satisfactorily complete background checks and training applicable to diocesan requirements.
-One year of practical general laborer and/or maintenance experience.
-Experience with operating equipment such as floor buffer, snow blower, mower, trimmer.

Supervises:    Faculty, business office personnel, head custodian, head cook, secretarial/clerical staff, all regular instructional and other professional staff members assigned to school, and more.

Overview:

The Principal acts as chief administrator for Bishop Carroll Catholic High School with an enrollment of approximately 180 students, and oversees 20 teaching professionals, and 18 non-teaching staff. The Principal implements the school’s strategies and budge; oversees the implementation of marketing and enrollment initiatives; and ensures compliance with school policies and reporting agencies. A successful Principal should be willing to pioneer new models for learning in an ever-changing world and serve as an ambassador to K-8 Catholic feeder schools. The Principal also exudes Roman Catholic values and principals, and serves as a leader in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

-Provide leadership exhibiting Catholic values, professionalism, and high academic standards that celebrate student and staff achievements;

-Work with the Board of Trustees, Diocesan Education Office, PIAA, and other governance boards, acting as chief administrator;

-Implement the school’s mission, vision, and strategic planning initiatives;

-Ensure policies and programs are carried out appropriately by all students, parents, and staff;

-Ensure compliance with local and state laws, and diocesan policies;

-Oversee the implementation of the budget;

-Oversee implementation of school marketing and enrollment plans to achieve and maintain enrollment capacity;

-Serve as liaison between K-8 Catholic schools and the school community;

-Implements the Diocesan philosophy of education and instructional goals.
-Manages and monitors student behavior.
-Assesses students on a regular basis and provides progress reports.
-Identifies students with learning differences with the assistance of school personnel, the Intermediate Unit and/or local LEA guidance under the direction of the school principal.
-Protects students, equipment, materials, and facilities by taking all necessary and reasonable precautions.
-Maintains records according to law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
-Assists the administration with implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
-Responds to and assists with student, staff, parental, and public inquiries in a timely manner.
-Possesses and exhibits extensive knowledge of content area, district curriculum, methodology, resources, and related technology.
-Participates in ongoing professional development.
-Establishes open communication with parents/guardians.
-Completes Basic Catechist Program.
-All other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
-Supportive of the mission of the Catholic Church.
-Able to satisfactorily complete background checks and training applicable to diocesan and state requirements.
-Knowledge of basic fundamentals of art and age appropriate art lessons.
-Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
-Experience with online grading and record-keeping systems.
-Familiarity with PowerSchool.

WORKING CONDITIONS
-FLSA Status: Salary Exempt
-Work Status: Full-Time
-Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
-Hours Per Week: 40 hours/week
-Work Schedule: According to school schedule as directed by the principal.
