Gallitzin Cross Award

About the Award

As a way of honoring the heritage of Servant of God Father Demetrius Gallitzin, the Prince Gallitzin Cross Award was created to recognize those members of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown who have imitated the evangelizing spirit of the prince-priest who sowed the seeds of Catholicism in the Allegheny Mountains. The award represents clergy, religious, and laity who have contributed to the growth of parishes, schools, ministries, and the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown as judged on the basis of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the evangelizing spirit of Servant of God Demetrius Gallitzin, and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
