Why do you feel called to the Priesthood?
Several years ago during a tremendously low period in my life, I decided to see a priest who eventually became my spiritual director. Within in a very short time of meeting with him, I had a conversion experience that brought me back to the Faith. Upon finding my faith again, I questioned what I was really supposed to be doing with my life. Following the advice of my spiritual director I set myself to pray; discerning what God was calling me to do. Within a relatively short period of time I felt a call to the priesthood but held back at first. I kept praying, hoping that there might be something else God was calling me to do, but I kept getting the same answer. Eventually I reached a point where I couldn’t say no anymore and so I entered the seminary.

What advice would you give to a man considering the Priesthood?
Pray! And find a good spiritual director!

Name: Deacon Peter Crowe

Seminary Year: 4th Year Theology at St Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, PA

Personal Interests: reading, running and walking, spending time in Eucharistic Adoration, learning languages, listening to music, conversation with friends, rollercoasters.

Why do you feel called to the Priesthood?
Firstly I think my vocation reminds me of the infinite mercy of God. I think Christ is calling me to labor in his vineyard as an instrument of His mercy.

What advice would you give to a man considering the Priesthood?
PRAY, especially at Eucharistic Adoration or near a Tabernacle with the Blessed Sacrament. Try to find silence and stillness each day to encounter Christ—turn off the TV and computer for some time each day—God can be very gentle and “shy” and wants us to seek Him out. Try to get to daily Mass as often as possible, get to Confession regularly, and pray the Rosary.

Find a priest who is happy, who prays, and who loves the church. Ask him about the priesthood and to help you grow closer to Christ through prayer.

Personal Interests: Biking, repairing watches, web and application development, drawing and anything to do with culture.

Why do you feel called to the Priesthood? My vocational call comes from deep inside my being. This call has been beautifully and relentlessly manifested from time to time through personal experiences that have changed my life into one full of true love and concern for others who daily encounter a cold world focused on human pleasure, a world that often challenges their very survival. These experiences have led me to make with confidence what I believe in my heart to be the right decision for my life.

What advice would you give to a man considering the Priesthood? If you are discerning a vocation to the priesthood I would say to you: pray for the courage to accept that invitation that Christ himself has made for you. Ask for the intercession of Our Blessed Mother. And, like Pope Benedict XVI said: “Whatever God is whispering to you, embrace it with joy! You are Christ’s disciples today.”

Why do you feel called to the Priesthood?
It is something I keep thinking about and am drawn to.

What advice would you give to a man considering the Priesthood?
Pray, go to Confession and Mass more frequently, get in contact with the Vocations Director, attend Diocesan days of discernment. Seminary is not for those who know they’re called to the Priesthood. It’s for those not sure and discerning. The man considering the Priesthood may be fearful, but it’s important to move forward. As Jesus said to His Apostles: “Come and see.”
