If one chooses to enter seminary formation to become a priest in the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese he would begin with College Seminary earning a Bachelor’s Degree. College Seminary offers a Liberal Arts education with a heavy concentration on Philosophy (30 Credits).

If the student has already earned a degree he may enter Seminary Formation on a Pre-Theology level of studies. This is to help the student earn the necessary Philosophy credits as well as begin the “Human formation” aspect of Seminary.

After these steps are accomplished the Seminarian begins a 4 year Theology program geared towards preparing one for Holy Orders.

All together the entire process takes between 5 to 8 years.
