DIOCESE OF ALTOONA–JOHNSTOWN CATHOLIC COMMITTEE ON SCOUTING
2018 Scout Retreat: May 18-20

WHO All registered Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in 5th through 12th grades, their leaders and chaperones.  You do not need to be Catholic to attend the retreat with your troop. Scouts may attend the retreat individually, however must have a parent attend to comply with BSA/GSUSA guidelines noted at bottom of page.

WHAT A weekend of Spiritual Reflections, Activities, Eucharist Devotion, Entertainment and Fun.  A nice opportunity to meet scouts from the other Boy Scout and Girl Scout Councils that are located within and outside our Diocese.

WHEN Friday, May 18th (check in from 6:00 to 7:30) through Sunday, May 20th, 2018
Departure after the 10:00 a.m. Mass at the Chapel on Campus
(Parents/Drivers are invited to come early Sunday and attend Mass.) NOTE:  REGULAR UNIVERSITY MASS – OPEN TO ALL SCOUTS, THEIR FAMILIES, PACKS, TROOPS, CREWS AND THOSE WHO HAVE AN INTEREST IN SCOUTING – ALL FAITHS ARE WELCOME.—–

Saint Francis University, Loretto — Dorm rooms will be assigned, 2 per room.  Torvian Hall dining will provide meals.  Directions will be provided, if requested.

COST $45.00  per scout / adult.  Cost includes meals, lodging, program materials and a 2018 Retreat Patch.  FULL PAYMENT MUST ACCOMPANY REGISTRATION.   LAST DAY TO REGISTER/PAY  – May 1, 2018

LEADERS Adults attending (all or part of the retreat) MUST be registered by May 1, 2018 no exceptions; no last minute substitutes.  St. Francis University requires that we comply with their safety/security regulations.  They require a cell phone number and an e-mail address for their background check which must be done prior to the retreat; so that temporary Campus I. D.’s / dormitory swipe cards can be issued at registration.

RESERVATIONS Will be received as space is available.  Early registrations are requested as lodging assignments will be scheduled as paid registrations are received.

 Also guarantees adequate numbers of patches are ordered.

RETREAT PROGRAM                                  “Modern Day Saints”
 

Boy Scout troops must have two deep leadership; Girl Scout troops must follow Safety-Wise requirements for the number of adults needed.  Scouts registering without a troop must have appropriate adult chaperones and meet the Scouting guidelines.

Please have each scout bring a non perishable food item for the Dorothy Day Center.

Scouts working on their applicable religious emblem who wish to receive their emblem in the fall must submit their paperwork by August 30, 2018 to Mrs. Denise Kreckel, Chair, at the address noted above.Questions, concerns or problems, please contact Chairperson via e-mail at  pharmcanoe@aol.com, Scouts doing Ad Altare Dei and/or Pope Pius – it is their responsibility to be in touch with the Catholic Committee Chair, prior to completion to schedule a Board of Review. Also, please make a copy of your emblem application for your records.
