IRA Qualified Distributions
Individuals who are at least 70-1/2 years of age can make a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from a retirement IRA for the benefit of a ministry, parish or school in our diocese. A QCD counts as a required minimum distribution (RMD). Download our guide to learn how to make a IRA qualified distribution.
Planned Gifts – Legacy gifts allow you to advance the mission of Jesus Christ for generations to come. The most basic way to remember the Church in your estate plans is through a bequest in your Will.A possible statement to include in your Will might read:I give, devise and bequeath to [the specific Diocese, Parish, School or Ministry], located in [location] a dollar amount equal to [x] percent of my adjusted gross estate for federal estate tax purposes.
Legacy gifts may also include cash, stocks, mutual funds, bonds, insurance proceeds, property (real estate, art, jewelry) and other forms of appreciated assets. In any case, it is important that you consult a tax advisor and/or estate planning attorney regarding your legacy giving.
If you are interested in establishing a permanent endowment, we encourage you to contact the Independent Catholic Foundation at (814) 201-2080 or on the web at www.independentcatholicfoundation.org.
